Tuesday, February 26, 2008, 7:00 p.m. Annual Meeting, Public Welcome!
Shelby County Sheriff Mark H. Luttrell, Jr. and Memphis Police Director Larry A. Godwin have been invited to express their views on consolidating the responsibilities of the Memphis Police and Shelby County Sheriff's Departments. Each will be given up to 10 minutes to speak, then the audience will be allowed to ask questions. This is NOT a debate but is an information process for Lakeland residents who would be affected by a consolidation.
Chief Administrative Office Harvey L. Kennedy will speak on behalf of the Sheriff's Department because Sheriff Luttrell is involved in a Charter Public Hearing. Sheriff Luttrell is going to do his best to make an appearance.
